Syria and China Discuss Enhancing Cooperation in the Cement Industry and Supporting Reconstruction

Mahmoud Fadila, General Manager of the General Organization for Cement and Building Materials (Omran), discussed with an investment delegation from the Chinese company BITEC, which specializes in building materials, the prospects for technical, commercial, and investment cooperation between the two sides, as well as the possibility of establishing future partnerships.

The meeting, held at the company’s headquarters in Damascus, addressed plans aimed at modernizing production lines and raising the efficiency of industrial operations to comply with the requirements of the upcoming phase and contribute to supporting reconstruction projects.

Fadila presented a detailed overview of the reality of the cement industry in Syria, touching upon the current status of this vital sector and future visions for its development. He also highlighted available investment opportunities, existing challenges, and ways to overcome them.

For their part, the Chinese delegation expressed BITEC’s interest in expanding its investment presence in the Syrian market, confirming its readiness to provide technical support and advanced expertise in the cement and building materials industry to achieve added value for both sides.

Both parties emphasized the importance of continued coordination and following up on practical steps to enhance joint cooperation in a manner that supports the development of the national cement industry and contributes to the path of building and reconstruction.

Syria currently attaches great importance to developing the cement sector as one of the fundamental pillars of the reconstruction process. This comes amidst increasing interest from international companies in entering investment projects that contribute to modernizing industrial infrastructure and raising production capacity to meet the growing demand for building materials within the national economic recovery plan.
