Public Works Ministry, UNOPS Discuss Housing Projects and Rehabilitation of 300 Schools

Engineer Mustafa Abdul Razzaq, Minister of Public Works and Housing, met with a delegation from the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to discuss prospects for joint cooperation on housing, infrastructure and rehabilitation of service facilities, as part of efforts to strengthen partnerships supporting development and rebuilding in Syria.

Cooperation on Housing and School Rehabilitation

During the meeting, the UNOPS delegation presented projects it has implemented across several Syrian governorates, along with its international expertise in the field. The delegation also affirmed its interest in cooperating with the ministry on the housing sector.

The two sides discussed the possibility of implementing a project to rehabilitate 300 schools within this framework.

Infrastructure as a Basis for Housing Projects

Minister Abdul Razzaq stressed that infrastructure represents a foundation for the success of housing projects. He also affirmed the ministry's interest in relaunching stalled projects, particularly housing schemes and their associated services.

Technical Sessions to Set Priorities

Both sides affirmed the importance of building partnerships that contribute to institutional development and raising staff efficiency.

  • Agreement to hold specialized technical sessions to identify and study project priorities
  • Preparation of joint, implementable proposals
  • Presenting the proposals later to funding entities
