The board of directors of the Syrian Trade Establishment held a meeting chaired by Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Eng. Maher Khalil Al Hassan, attended by the Establishment's General Manager Amer Qassoum, addressing several files related to the investment plan, budget, and mechanisms for improving institutional performance.
The board approved the proposed investment plan for 2027, along with the Establishment's operating and investment budget. The board also approved offering and selling goods on installment plans to state employees, including stationery and electrical materials, at reduced prices.
The Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry stated that in the first days after liberation, exceptional measures were taken to preserve the Establishment's facilities and the materials stored in its halls, aiming to protect them from theft and damage, despite a significant portion being lost. He also noted the importance of identifying profitable investments and preparing the necessary studies and feasibility assessments to include them within the 2027 investment plan, particularly given that the Establishment holds assets distributed across various parts of the Syrian Arab Republic.
General Manager Amer Qassoum confirmed the repayment of 115 billion SYP of the Establishment's debts owed to the private sector, with work underway to close the debt file through investment development. He noted that the Establishment has moved from a period of losses to achieving savings and profit through the reorganization of its investments.
Qassoum said the Establishment is focusing on investing its real estate assets and transport fleet, operating the latter in gas and grain transport, in addition to pursuing the rehabilitation and maintenance of cooling units as an investment, considering them an economic lever for the Establishment.
