The Syrian American Business Council facilitated a new round of engagement in Washington between a delegation from Syria's Ministry of Energy and prominent American companies and institutions operating in the energy, finance, and infrastructure sectors.

Syria's Ministry of Economy and Industry announced in a statement issued Sunday that the Council organized a series of professional and commercial meetings aimed at strengthening Syria's economic presence and broadening cooperation with international partners.

Companies and Institutions Involved

The meetings brought together several major American firms and institutions, including:

• Chevron, Halliburton, KBR, and GE, covering oil, gas, and electricity sectors.
• The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), to explore financing mechanisms for infrastructure and energy projects in Syria.

Ministry of Economy's Position

Minister of Economy and Industry Nedal Alchaar commended the Council's efforts, describing them as a model for the role that business councils in diaspora communities can play in building effective professional channels with international partners. He affirmed that expanding cooperation and investment opportunities contributes to supporting Syria's economic recovery and establishing partnerships on clear institutional foundations.

The Ministry also expressed appreciation for the role of Syria's Chargé d'Affaires in Washington, Mohammad Qannatari, in supporting these efforts and facilitating institutional communication channels.

Institutional Framework of the Council

The Syrian American Business Council operates as an independent, nonprofit organization established approximately one year ago in Washington, D.C., with a mandate to promote trade and investment between Syria and the United States and to facilitate business-to-business engagement across both countries.

The Ministry of Economy and Industry affirmed that activating the Council's work, in coordination with the Syrian Council for Coordinating Joint Business Councils, represents an organized national pathway to promote transparency, equal opportunity, and the alignment of economic initiatives inside and outside Syria with the national interest.

Outlook and Planned Activities

Since its founding, the Council has announced plans to organize trade delegations and investment forums, while contributing to the rebuilding of economic and financial relations between Syria and the United States, with the aim of strengthening Syria's standing regionally and internationally.
