The Ministry of Health, in data relayed by Al-Ikhbariah Syria, reported an expansion of health services in Deir ez-Zor governorate covering hospitals, beds, medical equipment and health centres.
According to the ministry, the number of working hospitals in the governorate rose from 6 to 13, and the number of beds increased from 268 to 520, nearly double.
The expansion covered surgical, treatment and diagnostic capacity:
An MRI scanner was also installed at the National Hospital in Deir ez-Zor, allowing specialised examinations inside the governorate.
The ministry extended services across the city and countryside, particularly in areas far from hospitals, raising the number of working centres from 30 to 82. The data also indicated that 12 more centres are ready to open next week, 5 in Al-Shamiyah and 7 in Al-Jazira.
More than 800 doctors and specialists took part in the Syrian-French Medical Conference held in the governorate, which included about 160 peer-reviewed lectures and papers as well as specialised workshops. The events were accompanied by a medical campaign offering free consultations to residents over 4 consecutive days, continuing until Wednesday, 21 October.
