Qatari Firm Signs Contracts for Aleppo and Jaroud Projects

Amin Ahmad, business development director at Qatar's Attia Architecture Holding Group, said the group has signed execution contracts for two projects in Syria with unnamed private sector companies. The statement was made to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed on September 16, 2026, on the occasion of the group's first participation in the Emmar exhibition, which coincided with its entry into the Syrian market.

Entering the Syrian Market

Founded in 2007, the group has branches in Saudi Arabia, Oman and the UAE, and includes 12 subsidiary companies. It entered the Syrian market through three entities:

• A real estate development company
• Attia Architecture Contracting
• Meter Plus, a facade and aluminum solutions factory

According to Al-Manara magazine, the group opened an office or branch in Damascus roughly six months before the statement, and it is interested in exploring further opportunities in Damascus, Aleppo and other Syrian governorates.

Aleppo Project

The first project in Aleppo includes residential towers, an administrative tower, and a mall with more than 150 retail units, with a three-year construction period. According to Ahmad, this project is funded by Syrian, Emirati and Qatari private investors.

Jaroud Project

The second project is an integrated residential complex in the town of Jaroud, Rif Dimashq, comprising more than 300 villas alongside a health center, a hospital, clubs, a mosque and schools. Ahmad said this project is fully funded by Syrian investors.

Licensing and Execution Timeline

Despite the signed contracts, both projects remain in the licensing stage. Ahmad said the group expects the procedures to be completed by the end of the current year, with construction beginning in the first quarter of 2027, an expectation stated by the group rather than an announced official date.

The group is also studying six additional projects in Damascus and Aleppo, still in the feasibility study stage and not yet in licensing.

Earlier Announced Aleppo Project

On November 29, 2025, the Emmar Syria website quoted the group's general manager, Mohammad Kamel Tahhan, saying the group was studying a large real estate project in Aleppo consisting of four previously licensed towers, with more than 50 percent of its administrative procedures completed, targeting the middle-income segment. It was not confirmed whether this is the same project referenced in the September 2026 statement.
