Project scope

Works to rehabilitate the Latakia countryside power network, damaged by fires, are continuing under a project that started about a month ago, according to the media office of the General Company for Electricity of Latakia. The project rebuilds networks and lines so that power reaches the targeted villages and communities again.

Figures and contractor

  • Total cost: US$1 million.
  • Contractor: the Syrian Construction and Building Establishment, which executed the project after submitting a bid about 20 percent lower, per the company.
  • Installation of 363 poles for low-voltage lines and 143 towers for medium-voltage lines, plus rehabilitation of parts of main and branch lines.

Lines and areas covered

The works cover the Al-Qastal, Al-Rayyana, Bloran, Solas and Al-Iman lines, and the Marj Al-Zawiya main line, which feeds a wide part of the Jabal Al-Akrad area. They also cover 20 kV medium-voltage lines, including Al-Sukkariyah-Al-Ratba, Al-Sukkariyah-Ghamam and Khan Al-Jouz-Al-Mazghala, and the Al-Matla branch.

The villages and communities served include areas of Al-Qastal, Jabal Turkman and the surroundings of Kessab, as well as Khabtalas, Al-Kandisiyah, Mazraa, Beit Faris, Al-Reem and the Research Center. The company does not state a completion date.
