Works launched on Sunday

The Hasakah branch of the Syrian Bakeries Establishment, in cooperation with the World Food Programme, began comprehensive rehabilitation of the bakery in Al-Shaddadi city on Sunday, 1 November 2026. The stated aim is to upgrade the bakery's infrastructure and technical equipment and improve production efficiency.

Scope of the works

According to the branch director, the works include:

  • installing a modern production line and a standby line;
  • fitting water and diesel storage tanks;
  • laying tiles and ceramics;
  • rehabilitating the sewage and water networks;
  • repairing the roof and rehabilitating the bakery yard.

Capacity target and wider programme

The branch director said production capacity is planned to reach 10 tonnes per day once the works are complete, to serve Al-Shaddadi and surrounding villages. The announcement gives no budget, contractor or completion date.

The branch had begun rehabilitating and upgrading eight public bakeries across Hasakah governorate the previous month: the Industry bakery in Qamishli, the bakeries of Darbasiyah, Malikiyah and Amuda, the Masaken and Ghuwairan neighbourhood bakeries in Hasakah city, and the bakeries of Tal Brak and Markada sub-districts.
