A New Year Begins.. Works of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing During January

Within the government's efforts to improve the urban and housing reality and accelerate the reconstruction process, the Minister of Public Works and Housing, Eng. Mustafa Abdul Razzaq, and the technical team continued a series of activities during January, including coordination meetings with local and international entities, and provincial tours.Regarding meetings, the Minister met with a Saudi delegation headed by the CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development, discussing support mechanisms and converting them into sustainable development projects to enhance stability and IDP returns. He also discussed with the Pakistani Ambassador enhancing cooperation and utilizing Pakistani experiences. Furthermore, the Minister discussed reconstruction priorities with a World Bank technical mission, noting initial estimates of over 1.3 million damaged housing units. He also held a coordination meeting with the head of the General Authority for Crossings and Customs at the Bab Al-Hawa border crossing to discuss rehabilitating crossings and improving infrastructure.During field tours, the Minister and the head of the Planning and Statistics Authority met with the Governor of Daraa to discuss the urban sector, stalled projects, and rubble removal. Two rebuilding plans (emergency response and long-term strategic) were adopted, and a joint completion committee was formed. In Aleppo, the Minister held an expanded meeting with the Governor to evaluate infrastructure and housing, discuss zoning plans, and accelerate project implementation, emphasizing that 2025 was dedicated to planning, while 2026 is the year of launch
