Key Figures for the First Half of 2026

The Company Directorate at Syria's Ministry of Economy and Industry has announced positive results in business formation indicators for the first half of 2026. A total of 7,619 individual commercial records were issued during the period, while newly established companies broke down as follows:

  • 2,087 limited liability companies
  • 713 general partnership companies
  • 56 limited partnership companies
  • 46 joint-stock companies

Comparison with Previous Years

These figures take on greater significance when set against the data from 2024, which recorded only 7,421 individual commercial records, alongside 497 limited liability companies, 580 general partnerships, 144 limited partnerships, and 33 joint-stock companies.

For the full year 2025, the ministry recorded 13,598 individual commercial records and the formation of 2,678 limited liability companies, 1,526 general partnerships, 158 limited partnerships, and 63 joint-stock companies, indicating that the trajectory observed in the first half of 2026 represents a continuation of sustained growth.

Factors Behind the Growth

The Ministry of Economy and Industry attributed this upward trend to several converging factors, including:

  • An improved investment environment following the post-liberation period
  • The effectiveness of the single-window system in expediting procedures
  • New economic decisions and policies
  • Simplified administrative procedures and facilitations extended to the business sector

The Ministry's Orientation Toward the Private Sector

In a related development, Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal al-Shaar, speaking at the "Food Syria 2026" conference held on 26 July, affirmed that the ministry is continuing its efforts to create an attractive investment environment by removing obstacles facing investors, developing economic and investment legislation, and raising the competitiveness of the national economy while supporting domestic production.

Al-Shaar underscored that the government views the investor as a core partner in supporting economic growth, within a broader framework of expanding cooperation with the private sector and strengthening the presence of Syrian products and industries in regional and international markets.
