The establishment of the Syrian-Uzbek Business Council, the 22nd council in the Syrian joint business councils system, was announced in Tashkent during a two-day official visit led by Tarek Bilal, chairman of the Syrian Council for Coordinating Joint Business Councils, with a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Economy and Industry.
Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal Al-Shaar announced the formation of the council on the Syrian side in the presence of Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment and officials and business representatives from both countries. A counterpart business council was established on the Uzbek side at the same time.
The visit included sectoral meetings and field visits, and the signing of several agreements and direct contracts; the announcement does not list them. A Syrian-Uzbek Business Forum explored cooperation and partnership opportunities in trade, investment, industry, agriculture, transport and services.
The council follows a bilateral track that began in February 2026 with official and economic participation and business-to-business (B2B) meetings between businesspeople in the two countries.
The platform earlier reported on the Syrian-Uzbek economic forum in Aleppo.
