Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal Al-Shaar announced the establishment of the Syrian-Azerbaijani Business Council, the 23rd council in the Syrian joint business councils system, in his address at the second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum in Baku. The announcement came as part of the Syrian official delegation's participation in the forum and its accompanying economic meetings, in which Tarek Bilal, chairman of the Syrian Council for Coordinating Joint Business Councils, also took part.
The Coordination Council worked with the Ministry of Economy and Industry and the relevant authorities to prepare the council and organize its launch within the programme of the visit. After the announcement, the delegation met a number of Syrian businesspeople at a meeting organized by the Coordination Council, during which the minister signed the decision establishing the council.
The Coordination Council says the new council is part of expanding the system of bilateral councils: building direct, organized channels with business communities in partner countries and turning visits, meetings and mutual investment interest into institutional relations, opportunities and partnerships. The announcement does not name the council's chair or members.
