Syria Signs $14bn Infrastructure Deals Will Revamp Damascus Airport

Under the patronage of President Ahmad Al-Sharaa, Syria signed a strategic agreement led by Qatar's UCC Holding to transform Damascus International Airport. Key project details include:

  • Increasing passenger capacity to 31 million annually through a five-phase development plan.
  • A $250 million aircraft financing program to acquire up to 10 Airbus A320 aircraft for Syrian Airlines.
  • Construction of modern terminals, 32 boarding gates, and a 50 km expansion of the Airport Road.
  • Generation of over 90,000 direct and indirect jobs.The wider $14bn package also encompasses urban transportation projects, including a subway system for Damascus and major real estate developments.
