Syria's General Authority for Border Crossings and Customs announced on Monday, 4 May 2025, the inauguration of the Jisr Qammar border crossing with the Lebanese Republic. The opening forms part of the Authority's broader efforts to expand border readiness and strengthen freedom of movement between the two countries.
The ceremony was attended by the Authority's Director of Relations, Mazen Alloush, and the Director of Passenger Affairs, Abdullah Shammatt, according to an official statement published on the Authority's platforms.

The Jisr Qammar opening follows the Authority's earlier inauguration of the Arida border crossing with Lebanon on 1 June 2025, which was also opened to passenger movement. The Authority stated that both steps respond directly to citizens' needs and aim to ensure the availability of border services during peak travel periods.
Syria's border crossings have witnessed a significant influx of Syrians returning from abroad since the fall of the former regime in December 2024. The Authority called on all travelers to comply with the established procedures to ensure unimpeded transit.
