
The Director General of Syria's National Energy Research Center, Barjas Al-Issa, met in Damascus with a delegation from the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) to discuss the work plan of the National Advanced Capacity-Building Programme on Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy, and Low-Carbon Transition in the Syrian Arab Republic.
The programme is designed to support Syria's energy transition strategy through the transfer of knowledge and modern technologies, and the strengthening of national expertise in the sector.
The Ministry of Energy announced via its official Telegram channel that the meeting was held at the National Energy Research Center in Damascus, chaired by the Director General and attended by his deputies and department heads, as well as Hani Shawerdi, the representative of the electricity sector regulator at the Ministry of Energy.
RCREEE was represented by its Executive Director, Dr. Majed Mahmoud, participating remotely, while Senior Expert in Sustainable Energy Economics and Policy Hussam Al-Harfi attended in person.

The two sides agreed on specific timelines for delivering the plan's outputs, with technical meetings to continue in order to activate the programme's provisions.
The Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency is an independent, non-profit regional organisation working to promote and expand the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency practices across the Arab region. The center collaborates with regional governments and international organisations to develop clean energy policies, strategies, and technologies, with the aim of increasing Arab countries' share of future energy sources.
