Scope of the works

The General Corporation for Road Transport, Idlib branch, is rehabilitating two roads in southern rural Idlib with a combined length of 66 km: the Maarat al-Numan–Sinjar road (30 km) and the Maarat al-Numan–Anqawi road (36 km).

The technical specification covers milling the existing road surface and fully resurfacing it with a leveling course and an asphalt course. The corporation also plans road-edge support works, warning signage, repair of stone medians and rainwater drainage works.

Contract duration and cost

  • Execution period: 180 days for each contract.
  • Total cost of paving the roads: about USD 5 million.

Background

The corporation states that it had carried out no previous works on these roads, while repair works on local infrastructure are carried out by municipalities. The two roads link the city of Maarat al-Numan with its eastern and western countryside. The source does not name the contractors or the funding body.
