
Syria's Ministry of Local Administration and Environment reviewed its activities during September, which included implementing targeted projects in several governorates and strengthening Arab and international partnerships in rebuilding, sustainable development, digital transformation and environmental protection. The review was published through the ministry's official channels on Tuesday, October 6.
The ministry launched the National Program for Priority Climate Projects in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme and with support from Japan. It also signed a contract to implement Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems with Ejad Technical Company, alongside preparations to automate the real estate and cadastral registries and property services in cooperation with the Turkish side.
The ministry discussed investment and cooperation opportunities with a Turkish delegation regarding rebuilding projects and transferring Turkish experience in reconstructing affected areas, and launched a conference on property management and ownership rights aimed at building an integrated digital system to protect citizens' rights and speed up their transactions. The ministry also participated in the Rebuilding Syria 2026 exhibition, showcasing its projects in local administration, public services, digital transformation and investment.
Minister of Local Administration and Environment Mohammad Anjarani oversaw the signing of an agreement to establish an integrated industrial and craft zone at Sahlat al-Banat in Raqqa countryside, covering an area of between 70 and 150 hectares and comprising between 2,500 and 4,000 plots.
The ministry strengthened cooperation with the Belgian Development Agency, UNESCO and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and discussed investment opportunities with Chinese companies in early recovery, municipal services and waste management projects. It also took part in the Mussiad Expo 2026 in Turkey, presenting investment opportunities in local development, infrastructure, public transport, digital transformation, waste management and rebuilding projects.
A Syrian delegation headed by Minister Anjarani participated in the 37th session of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for Environmental Affairs in Cairo, where environmental issues of common Arab interest and ways to enhance cooperation and coordination among Arab states were discussed. The ministry's activities also included marking World Ozone Day, strengthening environmental monitoring of substances and organisms crossing border points, and preparing reference lists for chemicals and waste subject to international conventions.
The 37th session of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for Environmental Affairs began in early October in Cairo, with Syrian participation represented by a delegation from the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment headed by Minister Mohammad Anjarani. The session discussed a number of shared environmental issues and ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination among Arab states, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
