Kuwaiti Firm to Rehabilitate Nassib-Damascus Highway

The General Establishment of Roads and Bridges in Syria signed a contract with the Kuwaiti Joint Group for Contracting to maintain and rehabilitate the Nassib-Damascus highway. The signing ceremony was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus, attended by Transport Minister Yarob Badr and Daraa Governor Anwar al-Zoubi.

Contract Details

Director of the General Establishment of Roads and Bridges, Muaz Najjar, said the maintenance contract represents an important step toward developing the road network and raising the efficiency of its infrastructure, contributing to smoother transport and trade flows and supporting the national economy. He noted that the Nassib-Damascus highway serves as a vital corridor for transport, freight movement and connectivity between Syria and neighboring countries.

Execution Standards

Jibril Jaber, a representative of the Kuwaiti Joint Group for Contracting, stated that the company will implement the project according to the highest quality standards and international specifications used in its projects in Kuwait and various other countries.

Earlier Project Stages

• In August, Najjar announced the start of executive procedures for the Damascus-Nassib international road rehabilitation project
• In April, the Kuwaiti Joint Group for Contracting carried out survey and assessment works on the road in both directions
• The company used laser technology and high-resolution cameras to produce three-dimensional models of the road surface

Strategic Importance

The Damascus-Nassib international road is considered one of Syria's most important strategic land routes, forming a core part of the international highway (M45), which serves as the backbone of Syria's road network and supports international transit movement and the flow of goods and passengers.
