New well at the Al-Huwayz station

The General Establishment for Drinking Water and Sanitation in Hama governorate, through its Shathah water unit, is equipping a new well at the Al-Huwayz station in the western Hama countryside, according to the Ministry of Energy's official Telegram channel. The well is to be connected to the water network and is meant to improve water supply for about 10,000 residents.

Works under way

  • Installation of a submersible pump unit with a discharge of 125 cubic metres per hour.
  • Laying of stainless-steel rising mains to connect the well to the reservoir that feeds the network.
  • Work by crews of the mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance department.

Station capacity

Once in service, the well raises the number of working wells at the station to four, with a combined capacity of 350 cubic metres per hour. The announcement says this should support supply stability and improve the efficiency of the pumping system.

The announcement does not give a cost, a funding source, a contractor or a date for putting the well into service.
