
The chargé d'affaires of the Egyptian Embassy in Damascus, Mohammed Omar Abdel Aziz Al-Fiqi, stated that Egypt is seeking to broaden the scope of its cooperation with Syria across multiple sectors, with particular emphasis on rebuilding. His remarks came following a tour of the pavilions at the 24th edition of the Buildex International Construction and Building Exhibition, held at the Damascus Fairgrounds.
Al-Fiqi noted that the Egyptian Embassy intends to strengthen its country's presence at Syrian trade fairs in the coming period, describing the exhibition as a vital economic platform for advancing industrial and commercial cooperation among participating countries and companies, especially as Syria enters a phase of recovery and rebuilding.
Haitham Hussein, Chairman of the Egypt Industrial Complex, announced a serious Egyptian initiative to establish a large industrial zone in Syria in the near term, aimed at supporting productive capacity and generating employment opportunities for Syrians.

The 24th edition of the Buildex International Exhibition runs through 14 June 2025, bringing together 710 companies and 1,400 brands from 51 countries, including direct participation from 20 nations. The scale of participation reinforces the event's standing as one of the region's foremost specialized economic forums in the construction and rebuilding sector.
