Two Wells Completed in Al-Lajat

The Mar Afram organization announced the completion of two integrated projects to equip and rehabilitate water wells in the Al-Lajat area of eastern Daraa countryside. The work was funded by the Syrian Humanitarian Fund (SHF) and carried out with technical supervision and in coordination with the Public Establishment for Drinking Water.

Al-Buwair Well: Technical Scope

The first project covers the well in Al-Buwair village, which falls under the Al-Najeeh town council. It includes:

  • A solar power system of 70 panels, each rated at 620 watts
  • A submersible pump rated at 35 horsepower
  • Modern water sterilization units, so the water meets health and safety specifications
  • A metal fence protecting the system and equipment

Al-Zubair Well

The second project was carried out at the well in Al-Zubair village, which falls under the Sur town council, according to approved technical and engineering specifications. The announcement does not itemize the equipment installed there.

Expected Impact

According to the studies prepared for the projects, they are expected to increase the quantity of drinking water reaching households, shorten the long waits during water filling, and reduce crowding at filling points. The announcement gives no project cost, capacity figures or handover date.
