Asian Carriers Seek Access to Syrian Airspace

The head of Syria's General Authority for Civil Aviation and Air Transport, Omar al-Hasry, said the authority has begun receiving new requests from international carriers to use Syrian airspace, with several coming from Asian countries, alongside rising demand from Gulf and regional airlines.

Official Statement

In a post on the platform ”X”, al-Hasry said the development in Syrian airspace is no longer limited to the regional environment, noting it has begun to extend to air traffic moving from Asia toward Europe and the region. He added that the project to restructure Syrian airspace and develop the air route network has started translating into concrete results, stating that the authority is working to restore Syria's position as an international air corridor linking East and West.

Navigation Infrastructure Upgrade

On September 24, the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Air Transport announced the completion of calibration and in-flight testing of modern air navigation systems at Damascus and Aleppo international airports, with the equipment entering service in line with approved technical and operational requirements.
