Works Completed

The Syrian Electricity Company has completed the rehabilitation and equipping of the Al-Bara 66/20 kV transformer substation in the countryside of Idlib governorate. The station had stopped operating and had been damaged, according to the Ministry of Energy statement on its Telegram channel reported by SANA.

  • Installation of a main transformer rated 30 MVA
  • Equipping of the control cells and circuit breakers
  • Connection of the 66 kV high-voltage lines coming from the Zizoun and Basida stations

Areas Expected to Be Served

The ministry said that restarting the station paves the way for electricity to return to Kafr Nabl, Hass, Kafr Oma, the western countryside of Maarat al-Numan and a number of villages in Jabal al-Zawiya, within the rehabilitation of the power grid in areas cut off for years.

Context

SANA noted that the Syrian Electricity Company in Idlib had restored power to the Tamanaa subdistrict the previous month, after an outage of more than fourteen years, following the commissioning of two transformation centres. The announcement does not state the cost, the funding source or the number of subscribers to be served.
