Emirati businessman Mohamed Al Abbar, founder of Emaar Properties and Eagle Hills, announced that upcoming investment projects in Syria valued at approximately $15 billion are set to be signed during the first week of October.
The announcement came in an interview with CNBC Arabia, in which Al Abbar described investing in Syria as a good and calculated risk. He said that standing by Syria represents, in his words, an Arab responsibility to contribute to the country's recovery.
Al Abbar stated that stability in Syria has been gradually improving over the past twenty two months, an assessment he offered personally while discussing investment opportunities.
Al Abbar revealed that the projects due to be signed are valued at around $15 billion, without detailing in his published remarks the specific types of projects or targeted sectors.
The announcement reflects growing interest from prominent Emirati investors in Syria's rebuilding opportunities, potentially opening the door for local and international companies and contractors to participate once the projects are formally signed.
