26 Public Bodies Meet to Activate Syria's Investment One Stop Shop

Syria's Investment Authority held an extended meeting at its headquarters in Damascus, bringing together commissioners and representatives from more than 26 public bodies directly linked to investment procedures and services. The meeting was chaired in the presence of the Authority's Director General, Ahmad Rawad Ramadan, as part of efforts to complete the requirements for activating the one stop shop and developing the investor services center.

Discussion Points

The meeting addressed the working mechanisms of commissioners and the powers granted to them, in addition to coordination mechanisms with the bodies they represent. Discussions also covered follow up on investor transactions and procedures requiring coordination among more than one public entity.

Purpose of the Meeting

The Investment Authority stated through its Telegram channel that the meeting is part of ongoing work to complete the operational readiness of the one stop shop, develop the investor services center, and strengthen direct coordination between the Authority and public bodies related to investment procedures.

Participating Bodies

The meeting included representatives of ministries, authorities and public institutions working in several sectors, including:

  • Economy and Industry
  • Interior
  • Agriculture
  • Social Affairs and Labor
  • Justice
  • Public Works and Housing
  • Transport
  • Energy
  • Communications and Information Technology
  • Tourism

Representatives of the General Authority for Land and Sea Ports and Customs, the Commercial Bank of Syria, the Commercial Registry Directorate, and a number of other public bodies also attended.

Development Background

The Investment Authority had previously stated in July that it is advancing transparency through automating procedures within the one stop shop, allowing investors to track their projects and follow all stages of implementation clearly. The Authority continues to implement development measures aimed at updating its work mechanisms and improving services provided to investors, with the stated goal of enhancing transparency, reducing time and effort, and raising the efficiency of transaction processing.
