The rehabilitation project of the Main Raqqa Bridge (known as Al-Rashid Bridge) aims to restore a vital road link in the province. The Ministry of Public Works and Housing, through the "Syrian Establishment for Building and Construction", is executing the project to connect the two banks of the Euphrates River (Al-Jazeera and Al-Shamiya) and to facilitate transport and trade that were disrupted in recent years.
The ongoing engineering works involve repairing structural damage to the bridge. In Q1 2026, the casting of damaged pier bases with reinforced concrete was completed, alongside clearing debris from the riverbed.
The work follows a phased schedule, starting with securing pedestrian crossing as an initial measure, followed by final reinforcement to allow the passage of vehicles and commercial trucks.
The project is under direct field supervision from the Ministry of Public Works and Housing and forms part of the urban recovery plan in Raqqa. Returning Al-Rashid Bridge to service is expected to support economic and agricultural activity in the region, reduce daily commuting difficulties for residents, and contribute to the province's stability and development.
