The General Establishment for Drinking Water in Hama Governorate, in coordination with the Ghab District Administration and with the support of Islamic Relief, has launched the rehabilitation of Qulaydin Station in the northwestern countryside of the province. The project aims to improve drinking water services and reinforce their long-term sustainability for tens of thousands of residents returning to the region.
The scope of works includes the rehabilitation of the station building and its surrounding perimeter wall, the construction of a guard room, the restoration of a 500-cubic-metre ground reservoir, and the installation of technical equipment to ensure high-efficiency operation.
A key component of the project is the deployment of a solar energy system comprising 255 photovoltaic panels. This installation will provide a sustainable power source, reduce dependence on conventional fuel, lower operational costs, and guarantee continuous water pumping.
Upon completion, the project is expected to improve drinking water supply to more than 10 villages and residential communities in the Ghab Plain, benefiting approximately 30,000 people. The initiative is anticipated to have a direct positive impact on the living conditions of residents who have returned to their communities following years of displacement.
