Tender Overview

The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) has issued an Invitation to Bid (ITB) under reference number ITB/2026/63914 for a small works construction contract covering the supply, installation, commissioning and training related to Multi-Hazard Early Warning Stations in several Syrian governorates. Scope of Works

The contract encompasses three principal categories of meteorological infrastructure:

• Synoptic Stations: Real-time atmospheric observation stations providing comprehensive weather data across target locations.
• Climatological Stations: Long-term climate data collection facilities designed to support trend analysis and risk modelling.
• Rain Gauge Stations: Precision precipitation measurement instruments to be deployed at designated sites.

The scope further includes structured training programmes for local technical personnel responsible for operating and maintaining the installed equipment.

Strategic Significance

This tender forms part of broader UN-led efforts to strengthen Syria's early warning infrastructure. It aligns with the global Early Warnings for All (EW4All) initiative, which aims to ensure universal coverage by multi-hazard early warning systems by 2027.
