The Aga Khan Foundation, through its Early Childhood Development programme, has announced a tender to rehabilitate a number of sites in the city of Salamiyah and its countryside to turn them into early childhood centres, alongside future projects in multiple areas of Syria. The project will be implemented according to international standards for early childhood centres, in a single phase or several phases depending on each site's requirements, with work expected to start at the end of October 2026.

Scope of Works

The scope of work covers a wide range of items, including but not limited to:

• Civil works: excavation, reinforced concrete, waterproofing, and others
• Architectural works: block construction, plastering, ceramics, sanitary and tiling works, painting, wrought iron, thermal and acoustic insulation, and suspended ceilings
• Electrical works: electrical wiring, maintenance, and solar power systems
• Mechanical works: central heating and air conditioning
• Other works depending on each site's requirements

Detailed requirements will be specified later in the tender documents, with all works to be executed according to the standards and policies of global childhood centres, under the supervision of the engineer designated by the programme's management.

Eligibility Requirements

Contractors wishing to apply must meet the following:

• Adequate capability, competence and experience, with commitment to executing the required works
• Sound and appropriate financial solvency, along with complete supporting documents such as a commercial register or other necessary licenses
• Commitment to the Aga Khan Foundation's code of conduct and safeguarding annex
• No court ruling against the applicant, and not subject to sanctions barring participation in tenders

The Foundation clarified that issuing this notice does not constitute any obligation toward bidders, and it reserves the right to extend or cancel the tender period.
