The Aga Khan Foundation, through its Early Childhood Development programme, has announced its intention to rehabilitate a number of sites in the city of Salamiyah and its countryside, in Hama governorate, to convert them into dedicated early childhood centers, in addition to future projects planned in multiple areas across Syria. The foundation stated that the rehabilitation works will follow international standards specific to early childhood centers.

Implementation Phases and Timeline

The project will be implemented in a single phase or in several phases depending on the requirements of each site, and work is expected to begin at the end of October 2026.

Scope of Works

The scope of works covers a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to:

• Civil works: excavation, reinforced concrete, waterproofing, and others.
• Architectural works: block construction, plastering, ceramics, sanitary and tiling works, painting, wrought iron, thermal and acoustic insulation, suspended ceilings and gypsum board.
• Electrical works: electrical wiring, maintenance, and solar power systems.
• Mechanical works: central heating and air conditioning.
• Other works depending on the requirements of each site.

The foundation noted that the precise scope of required works will be specified later in the tender documents, and that all works will be executed according to the standards and policies of global early childhood centers for design and implementation, under the supervision of the engineer assigned by the programme management.

Bidder Requirements

The foundation set out a set of conditions for contractors wishing to apply to this announcement:

• Having the necessary capability, competence and experience, and commitment to executing the required works.
• Good and adequate financial solvency for the works, along with complete supporting documents such as a commercial registration or other required licenses.
• Commitment to the Aga Khan Foundation's code of conduct and its safeguarding annex.
• Not being subject to a judicial ruling or debarred from participating in tenders.
