About the Project

A project to equip six wells in the Wadi al-Kanais area of Rural Damascus and connect them to the supply network, aiming to strengthen water resources and improve drinking water supply to the city of Damascus and parts of its countryside. It is implemented by the Damascus and Rural Damascus Drinking Water and Sanitation Company in cooperation with UNICEF, and its details were published by the Ministry of Energy on 21 October 2026.

Project Components

  • Equipping six wells, each with an average yield of 46 cubic metres per hour.
  • Connecting the wells to a collector line linked to the Zarzar, Jdeidet Yabous and Deir al-Ashayer lines and reservoirs.
  • Building a 2,800-metre power line exempt from load-shedding.
  • Constructing control and operation rooms.

Areas Served

Once in service, the project is expected to strengthen water supply to the city of Damascus and parts of its countryside, as well as the town of al-Rawda in the Zabadani area.

Current Stage

Works are under way; a field follow-up in October 2026 covered progress and the conformity of materials with approved technical specifications.
