Kafranbel–Orum al-Jawz Road Rehabilitation

A project to rehabilitate the 23-kilometre Kafranbel–Orum al-Jawz road in rural Idlib, one of the main routes linking the villages of Jabal al-Zawiya with the Ariha area. The works were carried out by the Syrian Establishment for Building and Construction (SEBCO), and their completion was announced on 1 November 2026.
Scope of Works
- Treatment of damaged asphalt sections with a corrective layer.
- A new asphalt layer 5 centimetres thick after compaction, laid along the entire length of the road.
- Road markings to organise vehicle movement and improve road safety.
Context
The rehabilitation of the Orum al-Jawz–Kafranbel road was listed among the ongoing projects in the plan of the Idlib branch of the General Establishment for Road Communications to rehabilitate the governorate's main roads, covering some 13 routes with a total length of 602 kilometres (July 2026).
Current Stage
The rehabilitation works have been completed, and the road serves the movement of residents and vehicles between communities in Jabal al-Zawiya and the Ariha area.
