A project to rehabilitate the Hasna and Shabrouniyeh irrigation canals, which branch from the Southern Kabir River in western rural Homs. The two canals irrigate about 750 hectares of farmland and benefit around 20,000 people.
The Homs Water Resources Directorate is carrying out the works in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The project is part of the existing cooperation between the General Authority for Water Resources and FAO to rehabilitate irrigation infrastructure, support the return of agricultural activity and enable farmers to cultivate their land.
Rehabilitation works are under way: SANA reported in March 2026 that works were continuing in western rural Homs, and the Ministry of Energy announced in October 2026 that they were continuing.
