About the project

Fajr al-Furat is a project to remove rubble from buildings and roads in Deir ez-Zor city and recycle it into raw materials for reconstruction works. Work began on 10 September 2026 in the Al-Rashidiya neighborhood, and the project is planned to last 18 months.

Scope of work

  • Removal of rubble from destroyed or unsafe public and private buildings, and of road and street rubble that obstructs electricity and water networks and infrastructure rehabilitation.
  • Removal is carried out free of charge, with no fees for residents, according to SANA.

Project phases

  • Phase one: demolition and removal of rubble.
  • Phase two: recycling and production of raw materials at competitive prices.

Construction materials produced

The pilot phase produced six materials with grain sizes from 0 to 2 millimetres up to larger sizes, and they were tested at the Syrian Arab Organization for Standardization and Metrology. The materials are used to make curbstones, interlocking pavers, concrete blocks, asphalt mixes for road paving and non-structural concrete, and are to be offered on the market after official approval by the relevant authorities.

Stakeholders

The project is supervised by Deir ez-Zor Governorate and carried out in cooperation between the Deir ez-Zor city council and the Zoom Investment Holding Group.

Current stage

Works are under way, and rubble removal has started in the Al-Rashidiya neighborhood.
