On 14 May 2025, an official ceremony was held in Idlib city for the signing of the contract to rehabilitate Carlton Hotel Idlib. The event was attended by Minister of Tourism Mazen al-Salhani, Idlib Governor Mohammad Abdul Rahman, and a number of relevant officials. The signing marks a formal milestone in the effort to restore the governorate's hotel infrastructure.
Two companies have been contracted to carry out the rehabilitation works, with the project targeting the full restoration and preparation of the hotel's facilities ahead of reopening to visitors and tourists. Available information indicates that both companies have a limited public commercial profile, making their track record in large-scale hospitality projects a matter of continued observation.
The project forms part of wider government efforts to revive tourism across Idlib governorate. Broader plans under discussion include the establishment of a new hotel in the Kinsarwa area west of the city, as well as the rehabilitation of archaeological and recreational sites in Jabal al-Arba'een, Darkoush, and surrounding areas.
Carlton Hotel is among the most prominent hospitality facilities in Idlib city. The property is currently undergoing preparation and rehabilitation works ahead of its reopening for hotel investment. The project is expected to generate local employment opportunities and contribute to broader economic activity in the governorate.
Official visits to tourist and archaeological sites across the governorate have continued, encompassing Harim Castle, Jabal al-Zawiya, Serjilla, and Ebla, as part of a comprehensive vision to position Idlib as an active tourism destination contributing to the region's sustainable development.
