Aleppo – Bab al-Hawa Road Widening and Rehabilitation

About the project

Widening and rehabilitation works on the Aleppo – Bab al-Hawa road within the Atareb area of Aleppo's western countryside, over a length exceeding 8 kilometres, carried out by the General Establishment for Road Communications in coordination with the area administration.

Scope of works

• Widening the road from 10 metres to 26 metres.
• Stated objectives: improving traffic flow, facilitating freight and transit movement, and raising road safety.

Background

Maintenance, rehabilitation, re-paving and pothole and crack treatment works had been under way on the Aleppo – Atareb – Bab al-Hawa road since May 2026, according to SANA.

Stakeholders

Implementing body: the General Establishment for Road Communications, in coordination with the Atareb area administration.

Current stage

The widening and rehabilitation works began in September 2026, according to the official Aleppo Governorate channel on Telegram.
