Al-Jalaa Palm Farm Development in Albukamal

A project to rehabilitate and develop the Al-Jalaa date palm propagation farm in rural Albukamal, Deir Ez-Zor Governorate. It is being carried out by Relief American Fund under an investment contract signed with the Ministry of Agriculture during the Damascus International Fair, with the aim of developing palm production and making better use of the area's agricultural resources.
Location and Profile
- Location: Al-Jalaa Date Palm Propagation Centre, rural Albukamal, Deir Ez-Zor Governorate.
- Area: about 2,000 dunums.
- Trees: roughly 12,000 palms of about 25 varieties.
Scope of Works
- Fertilisation and pest control.
- Modernising the irrigation system and rehabilitating infrastructure.
- A solar power system to meet the farm's needs.
- Planting new offshoots.
- Training and agricultural knowledge-transfer programmes.
- Facilities for agritourism and services.
Current Stage
The farm was handed over to the company's representatives on 7 September 2026; its assets were documented and specialised technical committees were formed to follow each phase of work and check periodically that the contract terms are applied. In October 2026, rehabilitation was reported to be under way, with the company aiming to provide modern date palm pollination equipment and share practical expertise with farmers.
