An integrated residential suburb in the town of Saida, Daraa governorate, on the site of the former officers' housing at the entrance to the town. The scheme comprises 20 residential buildings of seven storeys, each holding 32 apartments, together with a mosque, a pharmacy, a medical centre, a school, gardens, a sports pitch, a full sports building, a mall and an alternative energy plant.
What this means for a rebuilding company: a highly repetitive scheme, which suits standardised structural systems, travelling formwork and precast elements — the same building is delivered twenty times over. Ahead of that comes site-wide infrastructure: grading, road construction and paving, potable water, foul and storm drainage, power and telecoms networks, and the alternative energy plant with its components. Then the buildings themselves: excavation, foundations, concrete frame, internal and external finishes, and apartment-level plumbing and electrical work. On top sit buildings of a different character from the housing — school, medical centre, mosque, sports building and mall — alongside landscaping, gardens, the sports pitch and parking.
