An investment in the asphalt deposit at Jabal al-Bishri in Deir ez-Zor governorate, aimed at establishing a fully integrated local bitumen industry. The material is used directly for surfacing agricultural roads and low-traffic routes; once processed and blended with aggregates it meets the standard specification for main and international highways. The site reserve is estimated at 100 million tonnes, and the listing states the project secures more than 300 direct and indirect jobs.
What this means for a rebuilding company: the work is extractive and industrial at once. It begins with site works, open-pit excavation and haulage of raw material, then a processing and blending unit requiring civil works for foundations, silos and tanks, mechanical plant installation with heating and conveying systems, and electrical switchgear and control panels. Site infrastructure follows: service roads, weighbridges, storage sheds, and power and water connections. The project also opens a channel for mining-equipment and mixing-plant suppliers, and for road contractors who will consume the output.
