The designated site sits directly opposite the main gate of Aleppo Citadel, one of the most prominent heritage landmarks in the region and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Prior to the Syrian crisis, the citadel's immediate surroundings had undergone extensive revitalisation initiatives that transformed the area into a thriving tourist destination, lending the site exceptional strategic value for a luxury hospitality project.
The project covers a total area of 7,230 square metres and calls for the construction of a five-star hotel comprising two above-ground floors with the option of multiple basement levels. The development concept centres on rebuilding the site in accordance with approved architectural plans, reviving the area's authentic urban character while integrating a contemporary architectural sensibility.
The site carries a historical legacy spanning more than two centuries. The original structure, dating to the Ottoman era, served various civic purposes over successive decades. Severely damaged during the years of conflict, the site's rebuilding represents an opportunity to restore a prominent cultural landmark at the heart of Aleppo's Old City.
The project aims to support Aleppo's tourism and hospitality sector by providing a premium hotel facility capable of attracting visitors and investors alike, while contributing to the economic revival of the Old City's surroundings. It also serves as a model for rebuilding that balances contemporary development requirements with respect for the site's heritage identity.
