Bio
Raqqa is historically important, having been a key trading center in Syria. The city is located on the Euphrates River, which historically allowed it to act as a key waterway for the transport of goods. Due to the extensive destruction caused by the conflict, Raqqa’s economic and cultural importance has greatly diminished.
Damages
Today, Raqqa is still in the post-conflict phase, with its residents facing significant daily struggles due to the widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure. The city suffers from a severe humanitarian crisis, with shortages of basic services such as water and electricity. Nonetheless, there are ongoing efforts, both local and international, to start the process of reconstruction.
