Bio
Harasta is a northeastern suburb of Damascus with industrial and agricultural links to Eastern Ghouta. Before the war it hosted small industries, military units and dense residential neighborhoods. During the conflict it became a frontline zone repeatedly shelled and besieged, leading to widespread damage and population displacement.
Damages
Currently, Harasta shows partial population returns and some private repairs, but critical infrastructure (water, electricity, roads) remains damaged. Clearance of debris and unexploded ordnance is needed. Reconstruction is limited by funding constraints; security is more stable in government-controlled sectors but recovery is gradual and uneven.
