Bio
Azaz is a historic, border town in northern Aleppo province that functioned as a trading and agricultural node before the war. During the conflict it became a logistics and administrative center for opposition and later Turkish-backed forces. Repeated fighting and air strikes damaged housing, infrastructure and disrupted social networks.
Damages
Today Azaz shows a hybrid condition: local administration under Turkish influence, partial return of residents and commerce, but damaged infrastructure (water, power, schools) and contamination risks (explosive remnants). Humanitarian and reconstruction efforts continue but are limited by funding and security constraints.
