Bio
Al-Qusayr is a small agricultural and market town in western Homs countryside that became strategically important because of its proximity to Lebanon and coastal supply routes. Historically agricultural, it includes orchards and field crops and served as a local market center. During the civil war it became a heavily contested, damaged frontline town.
Damages
The present situation is mixed: some services and limited population returns, but large reconstruction and clearance needs remain. Unexploded ordnance and mines pose continuing hazards. Restoration of water, electricity and municipal services proceeds slowly with limited funding; security incidents still occur sporadically.
