Before the war, Al-Bukamal was an important agricultural and economic hub. Its strategic location on the Euphrates River made it a key point connecting Iraq and Syria. However, due to the ongoing conflict, large parts of the city have been completely destroyed. Efforts to rebuild the city are ongoing, but the scale of the damage has made recovery challenging.
