Bio

Abu Rasin is a small but strategic agricultural town in north-western Al-Hasakah, serving surrounding villages and farms. Before the war it functioned as a local service hub with schools, clinics, markets, and grain and livestock trade. Since 2019 it has been repeatedly affected by cross-border shelling and security incidents, leading to housing destruction, infrastructure breakdown, and waves of displacement that weakened its local economy.

Damages

By 2026, Abu Rasin is relatively calmer but still fragile. Some families have returned, yet many homes remain uninhabitable and utilities operate intermittently. Water networks, electricity, and schools require major rehabilitation. Humanitarian assistance continues, while full recovery depends on sustained security and funding for rebuilding housing, irrigation systems, and public services.
