Negotiations Under Way

Syria's Deputy Minister of Disaster and Emergency Management, Ahmad Qzayz, announced that the Syrian government is currently in discussions with the Saudi Fund for Development to finalise the technical and procedural arrangements required to transfer a grant valued at USD 1.5 billion.

The Syria Without Camps Initiative

The grant is earmarked exclusively for the Syria Without Camps initiative, a programme designed to address the conditions of internally displaced Syrians living in camps by providing viable housing and service alternatives that enable them to return to stable living conditions.

Donor Framework and Funding Source

The funding originates from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through its development arm, the Saudi Fund for Development. It forms part of broader regional efforts to support Syria's rebuilding process and alleviate the humanitarian burdens accumulated over years of conflict.

Government Oversight

The Ministry of Disaster and Emergency Management is leading coordination on the Syrian side. Deputy Minister Qzayz is overseeing engagement with Saudi counterparts to complete all necessary arrangements ahead of the formal disbursement of funds.
